Monterey has appointed David Corley as the town’s circuit court clerk and the Police Department’s Public Information Officer.
Corley said he has worked in law enforcement for many years, including four years with the Monterey Police Department. Corley said he pursued the position as he always liked a challenge.
“Being able to be the, kind of the voice for the department, especially in times of emergency, and things of that nature has been something that I have always wanted to do,” Corley said.
Corley said as the circuit court clerk, he will handle all of the administrative functions, like processing citations and working with police officers. Corley said his first focus is on helping the Police Department implement its new e-citation system.
“We will also be bringing on board a new court software vendor,” Corley said. “And all of the citations will automatically import from the field from the officers’ vehicles into that software, which will help us manage the court dockets and payment of citations and things of that nature.”
Corley said he believes he was appointed because of his experience.
“I have a proven track record with the agencies that I have worked for before,” Corley said. “I think they have seen the administrative abilities, and I always give 100 percent whenever I do something, and I am giving 100 percent to this job, and I look forward to where it is gonna lead us.”
Corley said he wants the public to know that the Police Department is there to serve them and that the department loves working in Monterey.
