Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has appointed Matt Colvard as the new 31st District Attorney, serving Van Buren and Warren Counties.
Colvard has served as the interim district attorney since late October, following the resignation of former District Attorney Chris Stanford. Colvard was born and raised in the area and has spent 15 years as an assistant district attorney in the 31st Judicial District.
“Governor Lee’s appointment of Matthew Colvard reflects a commitment to strong, principled leadership in the 31st Judicial District,” Executive Director of the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference Stephen Crump said. “Matthew’s deep roots in this community and his steady dedication to victims’ rights will serve Warren and Van Buren counties well. We look forward to his continued leadership in the pursuit of justice.”
Colvard, an Army veteran, earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and his
juris doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
