Former 31st District Attorney Next Court Appearance 2027

Former 31st Judicial District Attorney Chris Stanford did not appear in court Monday on reckless endangerment charges.

Stanford had a scheduled court appearance on Monday, which would have been the plea deadline. Stanford did not appear as part of an agreement, according to DeKalb County Circuit Court Clerk Susan Martin. The full details of the agreement are not known at this time, but Stanford’s October resignation was part of the agreement.

Stanford’s next appearance has been pushed back from January 7, 2026, to January 7, 2027.

Stanford was indicted after a shots-fired incident in November 2024. The incident occurred while trying to apprehend 28-year-old Caleb Dias Brookins and Jessica Root, wanted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department as suspects in the triple murder, and 21-year-old Hannah McKenzi Rose of Hickory Hollow Terrace in Antioch, Tennessee.

Stanford also charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied habitation.
