Livingston Ribbon Cutting to Finish Square Project

Livingston celebrated the completion of the Overton County Square Plaza project Friday morning with a ribbon-cutting.

City Mayor Lori Elder Burnett said residents have been calling city leaders to thank them for the project. Burnett said the county and city worked together on this project, producing improved infrastructure.

“We just wanted to recognize everyone that has been involved in trying to revitalize our downtown and has made the square beautiful,” Burnett said. “And to rededicate the fountain to our fallen soldiers. That is a very special moment.”

President of Mid State Construction Company Kelly Coleman said being a part of this filled him with pride, thanking subcontractors who worked on the project. Coleman said he felt fortunate the city chose local when deciding what contracting bid to take.

“Crystal Roberts, she did all of our wonderful landscaping including the sides,” Coleman said. “Big shout out to Crystal and her team.”

Burnett said many people who worked on the project could not be at the ribbon cutting. The project includes improved walkways, lighting and seating. The square was reconfigured to best accent the various monuments and features.

“So there’s been a lot of planning, and it’s turned out to be really beautiful,” Burnett said. “Mid-State Construction has done a great job on our square and our community is thrilled.”
