A developer has decided not the renew the option to purchase the Putnam County Fairgrounds.
E2L Real Estate Solutions has held the option to purchase the property since 2023. The developer extended the option several times. Both the developer and the county waited to see if the Veterans Administration would choose the facility for a new VA Medical Center. The VA announced in October that Neal Street will be the site of the new clinic.
The developer had asked for a 90-day no-cost extension, but the County Commission ultimately denied the request, requiring the developer to pay to extend the option or not renew the option.
The issue will now go back to the Putnam County Commissioners. In previous commission meetings, some commissioners have expressed an interest in not selling the old fairgrounds.
