Clay County Schools will replace the windows of Hermitage Springs School, finishing up the large-scale project.
Chairman Benji Bailey said requesting these bids is the first step in replacing the windows and coverings in the school. Bailey said the board has requested to bid out the work to compete the long-time project. Bailey said a mixture of grants and Safe Schools Act funding will assist in funding the project.
“In coverings at Hermitage Springs School, if you’ll recall over the years we’ve tried to replace some of those as summer projects and things of the like,” Bailey said. “But there is still several that are in need of replacement.”
Bailey said the project impacts a large portion of the school, with seven classrooms and the backside of the auditorium needing window replacements. Bailey said the project was budgeted.
Bailey said bidding out the project would expedite the process, allowing the building to receive all new windows sooner rather than later.
Safe Schools Act funds can be used for facility security and planning, school safety personnel, violence prevention, training and drills or behavioral health, according to the Department of Education.
