Van Buren Head Start Hosting Health Expo And Job Fair

Van Buren County Head Start is looking to make an impact in the community by hosting its 26th annual Community Jobs, Education, Health, and Awareness Fair on Thursday.

Van Buren Head Start Health, disability, and Health Nutritionists Carrie Wafford said the fair will have multiple vendors to connect people with resources regarding job opportunities, health care services, and education opportunities. Wafford said the fair is a great opportunity to help local residents in need.

“I know we are in a very rural county and we are very sparse, and we are trying to get all the resources in one location, so that the community can come together at one central location to access those resources,” Wafford said.

Wafford said the fair is free and open to the public. Wafford said one of the main challenges Van Buren County residents face is being unaware of the resources available within the county.

“I know there are a lot of things that we have to travel outside the county for, but we also have a lot of stuff that is right here in our county,” Wafford said. “They are just not aware of it.”

The fair will run from 9am-12pm and will be located at the Van Buren UT Ag Extension Office in Spencer. Wafford said she is looking forward to hosting the fair.
