The Overton County School System said the investigation continues into hazing by the boys basketball team, with no update scheduled until the process concludes.
In a release Monday afternoon, the system said all required procedures under federal Title IX regulations are being followed. The statement said the system understands the concerns of the community about discipline and the playing of the upcoming basketball season.
“The district is legally prohibited from issuing disciplinary actions or final decisions until all due process requirements are completed,” Monday’s statement said. “This process ensures that every student’s rights are protected and that the district’s response is both thorough and fair.”
The basketball team remains suspended while the investigation continues. The system said no other details will be shared.
“Our priority remains the safety, integrity, and well-being of all students,” the statement said.
The hazing investigation came to light Friday afternoon when the entire team was temporarily suspended. Livingston Academy scheduled to play its first game next week.
