Cumberland Reappoints Wojcik As EMS Medical Director

Dr. James Wojcik reappointed as the medical director for Cumberland County EMS.

Wojcik has served as the county’s medical director since 2022. Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster said the county reappoints a medical director every two years. Foster said he believes Wojcik has played a key role in making sure that the county provides a service that the public deserves.

“Oh, he has done outstanding,” Foster said. “He was from the emergency department, so he, you know, they were the doctors that would receive the patients to come in off of our trucks, you know, so they know what they need to do. We have really done a lot with our EMS a lot lately. We’ve upgraded to the best monitors that you can buy.”

The new agreement will take effect on November 1, 2025, and end on October 31, 2027. Foster said a medical director plays a vital role in the county’s EMS Department.

“You have to have a medical director,” Foster said. “The ambulance service falls under their license. They are the ones that sets protocols, and makes sure the training is done properly, and keep us safe.”

The Cumberland County commission approved Wojcik’s reappointment at the commission’s monthly meeting.
