Final Week Of Regular Season Football Begins Tonight

The regular season finale awaits teams across the Upper Cumberland. Some will play games that could affect where and when they play next week as the playoffs loom. Others will play for their seniors in their final game of the football season. All teams will look to give their best as the regular season wraps up this week.

Clay County faces Jo Byrns, with the winner getting the number one seed in the region and home field advantage. Clay County enters 8-1 and remains undefeated in the state of Tennessee. Jo Byrns enters play 5-4.

Upperman hosts Macon County. Upperman has clinched the region’s number one seed, but looks to right some wrongs when they face a Macon County team that ended the Bees’ season early in the playoffs last year. Macon County enters play 7-2, fourth place in the region.

Jackson County squares off with Grundy County. The Blue Devils have clinched the fourth spot in the region and await to see their opponent next week. Grundy County enters play 7-2.

White County squares off with Stone Memorial to decide who will be the number two and three seeds in their region. White County enters 7-2, looking to see a change offensively after being shut out on the road by Upperman last week. Stone Memorial enters play 8-1. They head back to Crossville in the middle of a five game winning streak. The Panthers will seek to win six in a row for the first time since the start of the 2022 season.

Monterey will head to face Bledsoe. Monterey will look to complete their regular season with their third win and second on the road. Bledsoe County enters play 7-2.

York will host the defending state champions in Marion County. The Dragons have clinched the number four seed in their district and await their playoff matchup next week. Marion County enters their regular season finale 8-1.

Cookeville battles Lebanon on the road. The Cavaliers have the most ground to gain with a win. Cookeville is currently the four seed, having clinched a playoff spot last week, but could jump up to the two seed with a win and a Wilson Central win against Gallatin. The Cavaliers need to defeat Lebanon to gain any ground; the Blue Devils enter play 7-2.

Pickett County hosts Clinton. Pickett will look to end their season on a winning note for the first time this season. They will welcome Clinton, traveling over from Kentucky with a record of 1-8.

Warren County hosts Glencliff. The Pioneers will look to continue their turnaround, looking for their fifth win this season coming off a season where the Pioneers finished 0-10. To do so, Warren County will need to beat Glencliff, who heads into McMinnville looking for their first win of the season.

Livingston will battle DeKalb on Friday night. Both teams seek their first win in the region to end their seasons. Livingston looks for record above .500 for the first time since 2019, while DeKalb County looks to avoid dropping three straight games for the first time all year.

Cumberland County hosts White’s Creek Friday night. The Jets seek their third win of the season, with their first two wins each coming by a point. They face White’s Creek from Nashville, who enters play 6-3, having dropped their last three games.
