The final stretch of the regular season is underway. As the weather becomes colder and the leaves change color, the path to the playoffs becomes clearer for football teams across the Upper Cumberland.
Jackson County battles Cumberland County. Jackson County has clinched a spot in the playoffs, having wrapped up their district schedule last week. Cumberland County enters play 2-6, looking to respond after being shut out last week against Rockwood. The Jets will continue their four game home stand, which will close out their season.
Stone Memorial battles DeKalb. Stone Memorial will look to improve their seeding in the playoffs, having clinched a spot in the district playoffs earlier in the month. DeKalb looks to get into the district tournament, needing a win tonight to give the Tigers a shot at November football.
Monterey battles York. Both teams will seek their first win in the district, with a loss making the scenarios more complicated. Monterey looks to avenge their loss against the Dragons last year. York looks for their first win this season.
Clay County travels to Innovation Academy. Clay County will look to remain undefeated in the state of Tennessee, having won their last seven games. Innovation Academy enters play 1-7.
Warren County hosts Howard. The Pioneers will look to finish their first season in the independent division at .500 after falling last week to Cannon County. To do so, Warren County must win tonight against Howard, then on the road against Glencliff next week. Howard enters play 2-5.
Cookeville travels to Mount Juliet. Cookeville looks for back to back wins in the region to secure a spot in the playoffs and have a seed as high as number three if proper scenarios hold up. Mount Juliet enters play 2-6.
White County battles Upperman. The two teams will battle with a possible one seed in the district tournament on the line. Both teams have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, and are undefeated in the district entering play.
Livingston will host Macon County. Livingston will need to win Friday night and win next week against DeKalb to secure a playoff spot with their best record in over half a decade. Macon County enters play 6-2.
