Construction on the new White County Health Department is still on schedule, despite weather challenges.
White County County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said once the ground work is completed, construction crews can begin the actual building construction. Robinson said despite some rain, he believes the ground prep should be completed by the end October.
“When you go into the planning process, you kind of plan a little bit, ’cause you know you’re going to have some bad weather. That’s kind of in the plan,” Robinson said.
The project is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2026.
Robinson said he, like many other White County residents have a long history with the facility.
“I went there, I used that as I was a kid,” Robinson said. “Started school, I mean, that’s where I went and got my shots and stuff. So that tells you how old that building is. So, yeah, we are excited about having a new, modern, updated and be offering services, you know, especially stuff we couldn’t offer before, just because the technology wasn’t at that time.”
A ground breaking ceremony was held back in May for the new White County Health Department. The new health department will be located on the corner of Mose Drive and Old Smithville Highway.
“The weather is really straightened up for us the last couple of weeks, and they got a lot of prep work done on the site,” Robinson said.
