The Cookeville City Council will consider the purchase of a new HVAC System Thursday night for the Cane Creek Gymnasium.
The bid includes two 15-ton HVAC units to replace the system first installed in 2007. Leisure Services Director Chad McDonald said the city received six bids.
“They’ve been failing, they’ve replaced parts,” McDonald said. “The heat exchangers are not safe.”
The budgeted replacement came in with a low bid of $50,000.
“They look like they’re about 50 years old,” Cookeville City Manager James Mills said. “On the side they need to be replaced. If you get 20 years out of it, you’re doing pretty good.”
McDonald said the gymnasium will need an additional $5,000 in duct work repair. That work is separate from the HVAC bid amount.
The City Council will vote Thursday on the update.
