Warrior Grasty Looking to Make Memories in Senior Year

White County basketball player Lakeland Grasty looks to write her latest chapter this senior year.

Grasty averaged a career high in points and rebounds last season. She scored some of her highest point totals in close games. Grasty said some of her favorite memories at White County were in those close games.

“We went into overtime in the region. That was super fun,” Grasty said. “We had some one point games going to state. That’s something I’ll always remember.”

Grasty enters her senior year at White County. She joins five other seniors on the team this upcoming season. Grasty said she looks to return to Murfreesboro this season.

“Not many teams get to experience that,” Grasty said. “It’s, when you come up to the tunnel, it’s like all the chills and it’s really fun. I would love to go back.”

Grasty said this summer brings a lot of good competition.

“Our district’s really good,” Grasty said. “We’re all very competitive. Every team we’re all rivals so we go against [everyone].”

Grasty said the team has some rivalries against every team in the Upper Cumberland. Grasty said most of the games went down to the wire last season. White County finished 5-3 in games decided by fewer than 10 points.

White County was undefeated in their district in those games decided by fewer than 10 points. The Spartans lost in the state quarterfinals to end last season.
