Tennessee Tech hosts its annual Preview Day Saturday, giving prospective students and families a free, full tour of the campus.
Coordinator for Campus Visits Peyton Land said the event acts as an open house for the university. The university will show off academic and residential facilities.
“You really get to see every bit of campus, that it is so you’re not missing any little part, it’s all gonna be shown off here,” Land said. “So we just try and give you the full entire experience in one day.”
Land said the event hopefully gives future students a clearer view of the Tech community. Land said he is hopeful future students will see themselves in the community after they are shown what the campus has to offer.
“You’ve seen the pictures, you’ve seen the videos of campus,” Land said. “You can see yourself walking in those spaces you’ve seen on our social media spaces you can see yourself with these departments and what all they have to offer, see these student organizations and all that they do with a hands-on feel.”
Land said Preview Day provides a different experience to the day-to-day of living in the area.
“I was a local kid myself when I was coming out, and I think, when you are around, you think you’ve seen a lot of tech and all it has to offer since you’ve been on campus and different things,” Land said. “I think this gives you a different look into a different side of Tech, the academic side of it.”
The event sheds light on the diverse academic community at Tech and shows students specific areas of interest around campus.
Check-in time will be at 8:30am at the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room. Campus, classroom, and lab tours begin at 9:30am.
