Livingston Wildcats football player Drew Goolsby returned from injury early to make his presence felt.
Goolsby suffered a lower leg injury during preseason. After the diagnosis, Goolsby watched from the sidelines as his teammates opened the season without him. Goolsby spent weeks visiting the doctor and rehabbing daily, determined to get back.
“It was really big,” Goolsby said. “I went through a lot of battles and trained every day, went to the doctor a lot and trusted God, and getting back out on the field was huge.”
Goolsby wasted no time making an impact. He caught a touchdown in the red zone and recovered a fumble on defense. Livingston would defeat York at home 47-35.
“All the doctors that I go to I had the trainer in Cookeville, Mr. Chad Crain and Dr. Williams, were all a big factor in me getting back into the game.” Goolsby said.
Goolsby returned to the field two weeks ago, one week earlier than expected.
“It was special,” Goolsby said. “As soon as we got the play, I looked at [quarterback Austin Jenkins] and we just had that look and I sort of knew I was going to score in that moment.”
Goolsby continues his senior year Friday night at home against Pickett County.
