A man wanted in the investigation of a double homicide in Overton County, taken into custody Sunday evening following an afternoon manhunt.
Officers responded to the Freeman Lane area of Rickman just before noon Sunday. 27-year-old Peyton Wayne Nations seen leaving the scene. Authorities issued a region-wide notification to be on the lookout.
Dekalb County dispatchers later received a call that a man had pushed a vehicle into Austin Bottom Lake. Around 6pm Sunday, a man matching the description reported walking on Old Baxter Road. A Highway Patrol officer took the man into custody without incident, around I-40.
The incident believed to be a domestic incident. Dead are 25-year-old Isaiah Thomas Hawkins and 43-year-old Christina Denise Hawkins. Both killed by gunshot wounds outside the home.
Peyton Nations charged with two counts of first degree murder. He is being held in the Overton County Jail. The investigation continues, with local law enforcement and the TBI involved.
