Livingston Academy Cheerleader Bella Bournes begins her second year of living out her dream.
Bournes began cheering for the Wildcats her junior year. Bournes had cheered throughout her elementary and junior varsity tenures. For Bournes, the decision came down to what Overton County football and friends mean to her.
“I think all of the tradition from Livingston Academy and just the community that’s built around the football team,” Bournes said. “I’ve cheered all my life and I saw the community that was also built around the cheer team.”
The cheerleading team took on new competition over the summer, as the Wildcats cheered competitively for the first time. Bournes said she hopes to use those competitions to help her team rally on Overton County this school year.
“We’re starting a new thing with competing,” Bournes said. “I think all around our team is better this year.”
The Wildcats’ cheer team roots on the football team on during its playoff runs and energizing the crowds during basketball season. Bournes said with the new competition, the Wildcats will add a new chapter to their history.
“I think it’ll just help our team get closer and be nicer to each other,” Bournes said.
Bournes said representing Livingston Academy means supporting the athletes while growing as a team. Bournes saw her team grow in the recent Universal Cheerleaders Association Division I College Championships, finishing in third place in overall cheer and first place in gameday.
Bournes will next cheer on the Wildcats Friday night as Livingston football takes on York.
