A Putnam County man was fatally shot Wednesday night on McClain Road after an argument over the whereabouts of a firearm.
Nicholas Rittenberry was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach after the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to the reported shooting. According to Investigators, resident Jordan Carper, allegedly shot Rittenberry once the argument broke out.
Rittenberry was life-flighted to Vanderbilt and would later succumb to his injuries. According to investigators, the incident appears to be a self-defense shooting. The investigation is still ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
