The Biz Foundry is partnering with the Livingston-Overton County Chamber of Commerce for a Business Town Hall event later this month.
Biz Foundry Vice President Tiffany Anton said the event is designed for local entrepreneurs to provide feedback on what is working for their businesses, as well as the things they need help with. Anton said this feedback will help the Foundry create new programs and resources.
“[Businesses] can tell us what exactly is going on,” Anton said. “Also, with this group format, they could maybe hear somebody that’s doing something well, and they might hear ideas that they want to implement in their own business.”
Anton said the Biz Foundry exists to serve local business. Anton said having an open forum discussion like a town hall will help the Foundry get a leg up on assisting the business community.
Anton said the partnership with the Overton Chamber of Commerce came from the efforts of Chamber Director Zach Stephens. Anton said the Foundry has been working with Stephens since he became the Chamber Director earlier this year.
“[Stephens] is really hands on, and really wants to provide the right resources for his community,” Anton said. “And so, not only will he be able to implement some of these things on his own, but we as the Biz Foundry are able to implement things within our Biz Foundry, but then maybe resources that are specific to different communities.”
Anton said Stephens wants to work with a lot of trade businesses. She said this could lead to programs specifically for people who run this type of business.
“A lot of times you’re skilled at your trade, but don’t know the business skills,” Anton said. “And so, we’re going to work on developing something like that in the future.”
Anton said it is common for business owners to be very knowledgeable about their business, but lack the knowledge about things like billing or bookkeeping. She said the goal is to help people work smarter, but not harder on these skills.
The Business Town Hall will be held September 22 at 6 pm at the Livingston-Overton County Chamber of Commerce. Light refreshments will be provided.
Anton said people need to register to attend the event. Registration is available on the Biz Foundry website.
Anton said she hopes to have Business Town Halls in other communities in the future.
