The state’s Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission Thursday, opted to delay the decertification hearing for Fentress County Sheriff Michael Reagon until October.
Reagon is facing decertification on allegations of falsifying reports. Reagon allegedly asked a subordinate to complete a multi-hour online training in his place. Decertification would mean Reagon would not be allowed to practice law enforcement in the state of Tennessee.
Reagon’s Attorney requested that the decision be delayed as TBI is still conducting an investigation. Reagon’s Attorney said an interview with TBI is set up for September 10 and believes TBI should then have the investigation completed. An exact date for the hearing has not been set.
Fentress County Chief Investigator Jerry Mifflin was also up for decertification. According to the commission, Mifflin was up for decertification based on findings of an investigative report. The commission also voted to delay Mifflin’s hearing until October.
