TN Tech Women’s Golf Bringing First Transfers To Program

The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles women’s golf team will welcome their first two transfers in program history this season.

Summer Pilot transferred over the summer from Florida Gulf Coast. Florida Gulf Coast comes off a regional championship last season. The Golden Eagles will also welcome freshman Ella Kaiser. Head Coach Amanda Smith said her team welcomed the new transfers with open arms.

“When I first told them we were probably going to get in a transfer, I said bring her in and welcome her to the team. Don’t let her feel like an outsider,” Smith said. “They’ve really taken that on as a team and built her up and understanding that people come from different places, even when they come in as freshmen.”

The Golden Eagles will open their season September 8 in Xenia, Ohio. Tennessee Tech will travel over five thousand miles across four different states in the first two months of its season. Smith said she tries a new approach every time the team travels.

“When we go travel, I usually try to bring [another player] with us,” Smith said. “It’s a lot of days on the road, it’s a lot of hours spent together on the golf course.”

Smith said a golf tournament takes between six and eight hours to complete. Smith said the team has taken approaches to prepare themselves for all ten regular season match-ups.

“They’ve done some really good, different drills and different ideas to get the other girls involved, different competitions throughout the days, different ways to maybe see how they’re preparing for a tournament,” Smith said. “They’re not afraid to share that information.”

Tennessee Tech returns two seniors and six of their eight total golfers.
