Buck Balancing Tech Schedule With Stone Memorial Volleyball

Stone Memorial Lady Panthers volleyball head coach Brooklyn Buck was hired as head coach in April while taking classes at Tennessee Tech.

Buck remains a full time college student, studying pre-physical therapy at Tennessee Tech. Buck brings her degree and her seven years of expertise into her first head coaching role. Buck said she aims to figure out the logistics of her roles in the coming months.

“I haven’t been in this role before, I’ve just been assistant kind of in the background,” Buck said. “Taking on this new responsibility is stressful, especially being thrown in blindly.”

Buck said she relies on her support system and coaching staff to help balance her schedule. Buck cheered on the Lady Panthers as assistant coach for three years before being named head coach. Buck said the Lady Panthers continue to take strides.

“We just keep getting better and better,” Buck said. “It feels like we keep reaching a milestone every season.”

Stone Memorial won district two seasons ago before winning in regionals last year. Buck said the Lady Panthers and their chemistry helps make the sport grow bigger in Crossville.

“Our team chemistry is the strongest it’s ever been,” Buck said. “These girls have been playing together since the fifth grade so I think that definitely helps them.”

Buck began her first year as Stone Memorial head coach with a win August 18th against Smith County. Buck has started her career 4-0 as head coach. The Lady Panthers went 2-0 in Buck’s first tournament at the Showdown at Sunsphere, held in Knoxville.
