Tennessee Tech Ranked #2 University In State By Niche

Niche, a publisher of college guidebooks, has ranked Tennessee Tech as the second best public university in Tennessee behind UT-Knoxville.

The ranking gave Tech an overall grade of A-, with A grades in categories like the campus, food options, professors, and student life. Factors like athletics, academics, diversity, the party scene, location, and value all received B grades.

The college accepts some 83 percent of applicants, and annual tuition costs are some $15,100, which is $2,000 short of the national average. There are some 8,800 undergraduate students enrolled at Tech. Of those undergraduates, some 7,800 are enrolled full time.

Some 39 percent of students describe their college experience as “awesome,” and some 13 percent said it is “fantastic.” With the current student population, there is a 17 to one student faculty ratio. Some 88 percent of students surveyed said they believe they will be able to find work when they graduate.

As for campus life, over half of the student body said they like most everything about the campus. Some 63 percent of students say Greek life on campus is average. The majority of students said that athletic events are attended, but the sports are not a large part of campus life.

Overall, students gave Tech a 3.7 star rating, making it the 101st ranked public college in America. East Tennessee State, Middle Tennessee State, Tennessee-Chattanooga received similar rankings.
