The 2025 Cumberland County Fair returns next week with the theme “Don’t Worry Kids We Goat This.”
The Cumberland County Fair has existed for over 70 years. Fair President Danny Smith said every year, the fair exemplifies local agriculture.
“That’s what are county is all about, you know, farming and helping neighbors and stuff,” Smith said. “When you come, you’ll see that through the exhibits and stuff that people put out.”
Smith said the fair will consist of carnival rides, contests, and music. Smith said he wants to see how many people can be in attendance for the opening night ceremonies Monday.
“We would like to fill the stands up completely this year,” Smith said. “We had probably 800-900 people here last year, and we think we can have 1,200 people here.”
Smith said friends and neighbors meeting at the fair is a tradition and is what makes the county fair so special.
“The fellowship of just coming together and seeing friends you haven’t seen, or just making friends, you know, it’s good for that,” Smith said. “Memories are a big thing about the fair.”
Smith said the fair would not be possible with the volunteers. Smith said it was surprising to see how many people wanted to volunteer for the fair this year. Smith said most people volunteer to be a part of something that is memorable.
“You’ll find a lot of these volunteers, their grandpas and grandmas volunteered years ago, and then their moms and dads, and now they are down to the younger ones,” Smith said. “It’s just a tradition.”
The Cumberland County Fair will kick off officially Monday. Events begin over the weekend.
