Warren County Pioneer Isaiah Robledo looks forward to playing sports his senior year.
Robledo enters his fourth year on the Warren County varsity team. Robledo has played football for as long as he can remember. He has also played basketball since he was four years old. Robledo said head basketball coach Danny Fish has seen him grow throughout his career.
“If if I make a mistake or something like that on the court, you know, Coach Fish doesn’t just scream at me and just yell at me,” Robledo said. “He kind of corrects me into whatever I did wrong so I don’t make that mistake on the court. He’s been, our big thing is the brotherhood for the basketball team so that’s kind of what we embrace and it’s a really strong thing that we have there.”
Robledo began football practice for the Pioneers last week. He will have Eric Belew as the new football coach this season. Robledo said playing each sport has its pros and cons.
“Basketball, working, you know, different things, helps you with football,” Robledo said. “Football working different things helps you with basketball, but especially in the summer having to go to practice for two hours and then going to another one for two hours but it’s just part of something that goes with it.”
Robledo said it is important to develop a brotherhood on any team.
“When you’re in that postseason, you got to dig a little deeper, you know, to win games, to get what you want to get,” Robledo said. “State championship, you know, high school, region games, it’s so important.”
Isaiah Robledo plays wide receiver for the Warren County Pioneers football team. He also plays running back and corner. Robledo said he will play wherever he is asked to on the field.
Robledo will play guard for the Pioneers when football season ends and basketball season begins.
