Commission Approves Norman Mayberry Road Final Plat

The Putnam County Planning Commission has approved a final plat for Blair Subdivision on Norman Mayberry Road.

The planning commission had a concern about how narrow the road is. However, Norman Mayberry Road is a Jackson County Road. Planning Director Kevin Rush said that the road will work.

“We measured the road, it is roughly 16 feet wide,” Rush said. “One spot we measured was around 15(feet), 15 and a half (feet), something like that. One spot was 16 (feet), a couple of inches over, maybe. So it is a narrow road, but it is, it is what it is. It is passible.”

The commission approved the plat as the developer addressed the previous issues from the commission. Rush said the certificate for the road would have to be signed by the Jackson County Highway Superintendent.

“Since the road is in Jackson County, and they will be certifying that road right-of-way widths and all of that’s appropriate, that’s the only Jackson County governmental issue, is that they would have to sign the plat,” Rush said.

The commission asked if other parts of the Jackson County Government would need to be involved. Rush said they would not, as the properties are taxed in Putnam, since a majority of properties are in Putnam County.

The planning commission also had a concern with one building on one of the properties, as a portion of the building is not within the lot. Rush said he was told that the building would be torn down.
