Livingston Aldermen will move forward with the bid to replace the pump at the Hillcrest Drive Booster Station.
The pump is over 25 years old and has cracks. The aldermen reviewed an estimated $11,800 bid to repair the pump and an estimated $21,100 bid to replace the pump. Mayor Lori Elder Burnett said Water and Sewer Supervisor Eric Ramsey had recommended replacing the pump rather than repairing it.
“He felt like replacement was probably going to be our best choice because we may just be back in a similar situation again,” Burnett said. “I know, I mean it’s a lot of money, but from repairs in the water department, it’s not, you know, excessive.”
The aldermen had previously tabled the decision in July, as the bidder had not included the installation price as part of the bid. Burnett said the funds for the project will come out of the town’s water fund.
Burnett said she has yet to receive an official shipping price.
“I did ask about shipping, which they said, you know, it was difficult because of not knowing actually which direction we were going to go,” Burnett said. “They said they didn’t think it would exceed $500. They said if it did, they would cover that, but they thought it would be less than $500.”
