McMinnville Children’s Museum Celebrates School Saturday

The McMinnville Children’s Museum will hold a back to school bash event Saturday, a chance to show off the vision for the facility.

Event Coordinator Lindsey Adams said the museum was created by her friend Lindsey Powell, who wanted an indoor place for her kids to explore and learn. Adams said the museum is looking for the perfect place to build, a facility.

“The first box that we did was all about bubbles,” Adams said. “And so the kids got to mix and create their own bubbles and get to play with that, and learn about mixing oils and water and stuff like that.”

Adams said eventually, when a property is decided on, it will provide some classes for kids to partake in. Some of these include cooking, painting and woodworking.

“[Powell] is working so hard on trying to find the perfect piece of land to create this ginormous place, like a wonderland for our kids,” Adams said.

Adams said she is excited to see the museum grow, and that the idea has inspired the entire community. In addition, she said creating a space like this is a benefit to children from all over the region.

Adams said there is also a sun catcher box, which helps kids explore light and colors. Adams said the museum has been hosting several events and activities to get kids excited about learning.

“We want every kid to have the ability to learn something,” Adams said. “To push themselves a little bit further in their knowledge. And just be confident in learning and wanting to learn more. We want kids to be creative and think outside of the box.”

The McMinnville Children’s Museum’s Back to School Bash will be held Saturday from 9am to 7pm.
