Next Phase Of 127 Project Scheduled Completion August ’26

The next phase of T-DOT Highway 127 widening project should be completed one year from now.

The project will complete the four-lane highway from North of I-40 to Potato Farm Road. T-DOT Regional Communications Officer Rae Anne Bradley said over the past six months, the contractor has focused on constructing a new bridge that goes over Clear Creek.

“During this time, the contractor has completed much of the excavation and backfill that’s necessary to install the bridge abutment on the north end of the bridge,” Bradley said. “The lower portion of the abutment has been constructed, excuse me, which has allowed for the installation of 10 or so bridge girders.”

Bradley said the contractor is also working to install foundations for new traffic signal poles at the State Route 62 intersection in Clarkrange. Bradley said drivers will need to be aware of traffic changes at the intersection at the intersection.

“There will likely be a traffic shift to a portion of the new alignment through Clarkrange later this year, which will allow the contractor to perform some necessary work on the existing alignment,” Bradley said.

Bradley said the portion of Highway 127 from Low Road to Little Road is also currently under construction. Bradley said phase three, which is a portion from Hollow Lane to Lowe Road, and phase four, which is a portion from Potato Farm Road to Hollow Lane, will not begin construction until fiscal year 2026.

Bradley said widening Highway 127 will be a big boost to rural areas surrounding the highway.

“Increasing connectivity, enhancing the safety and operation of this roadway, is only going to support, foster, and encourage economic activity in these areas, which is crucial for the prosperity and development of these areas,” Bradley said.
