Hull Leaving UC Workforce Board; Interviews Set To Begin

Upper Cumberland Local Workforce Development Board Executive Director Becky Hull has announced she will be stepping away.

Hull said she will leave due to family medical issues. Hull said stepping was a tough decision.

“Workforce has been a significant part of my life for the last eight years,” Hull said. “And I feel like that, together with the board and with the local elected officials, we brought the workforce to a really good place in the Upper Cumberland, and it’s sort of like leaving your baby behind.”

Hull said it has been a tremendous pleasure to serve the 14 counties in the Upper Cumberland. Hull said what she enjoyed the most was making decisions that changed the lives of others.

“They’ll never know our name, they’ll never know what we’ve done, but we may have gone the extra mile that has allowed them to get into a training program that will allow them to have a life-sustaining wage,” Hull said. “And that changes their life, and their children’s life, and their children’s children. So it’s been such a huge blessing to be able to bless people in the community.”

Hull said some advice she would give to the next executive director is to make decisions based on feedback from the staff.

“They are the folks that are out there in the trenches,” Hull said. “And they know and have information that they can share with you to help you make good decisions, and once you make that decision, never give up. Just keep enforcing that.”

Hull said she will serve as the executive director until the board can find her replacement. Hull said her position has been posted, and the board plans to start interviews the first week in August.
