A second arrest has been made from the altercation that happened after the conclusion of the Putnam County Commissioners meeting Monday night.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the individual identified as Aaron James Cofer is being charged with assault against a first responder. Investigators determined that Cofer engaged in a physical confrontation with Deputies during the incident.
Sheriff Eddie Farris said that maintaining respectful and secure environments for civic engagement remains a top priority.
“We will not allow the kind of unrest that has affected other parts of our nation to take root here,” Farris said. “As long as I serve as Sheriff of Putnam County, I will continue to uphold peace, safety, and order for all the citizens of Putnam County.”
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation of Monday night’s incident is still active.
