New Tech AD A Program Builder, Fundraiser, Team Player

New Tennessee Tech Athletic Director Casey Fox arrives in Cookeville with a reputation of building programs, according to a Montana State colleague.

MSU Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Bill Lamberty said Fox helped improve fundraising. That led to a new football building and indoor track facility. Lamberty said Fox is a people person, which is one of his biggest strengths.

“I just think his broad based experience really allows him to see every situation for what it is,” Lamberty said. “To see, you know, think through ways that could benefit us. He’s just got a great head on his shoulders and a great savvy for that kind of thing.”

Lamberty said Fox was given a lot of responsibility over his seven years at MSU. Lamberty said Fox grew from the demands of his previous role.

Lamberty said Fox was one of the first big hires made by Montana State’s Athletic Director during the last ten years. Lamberty said they were on the same page from the jump, which helped the athletic department turn things around.

“Casey rose to the challenge in every single situation,” Lamberty said. “I just think he embraced the vision that [Costello] had, and really turned that into a situation where he grew personally and professionally. And the department grew.”

Lamberty said Fox will be remembered for more than new buildings on MSU’s campus.

“His legacy is being able to deal with all the different people sort of on where they are, and kind of always keeping in mind what’s best for the department. Just keeping things moving forward would be the best way to sum it up.”

Lamberty said Fox is a collaborative person, which will translate well to the athletic director role.

Fox will arrive on campus in late July. .
