Double Springs Replacing Bloomington Springs Waterline

Preparations underway for the Double Springs Utility District to install new waterlines for the Bloomington Springs area.

Double Springs Board Chairman Lynn McHenry said new waterlines will be installed between Buffalo Valley Road and Bloomington Road, and then down toward Highway 56. McHenry said the project will be an improvement to the area’s water system.

“Well, it’s going to hopefully replace some old lines that aren’t, you know, that could possibly be leaking, and also add opportunity for growth and to be able to tie in to the back of some other lines to give them, you know, to serve the customers better,” McHenry said. “Give them more confidence that their water is always gonna be there.”

McHenry said the utility district is still trying to acquire more easements. McHenry said he is hoping to have all the easements next month before bidding out the project.

“We’re still waiting on a few different estimates in order to bid it out,” McHenry said. “That’s nothing uncommon. It’s usually one of those things that happens in order to get all of your easements and all of the paperwork ready. It takes a little bit longer than you expect, but it is nearing that. I’ll put it that way. We’ve gotten mostly everything we need in order to bid it.”

McHenry said some tweaks were made to the original project. McHenry said most of the tweaks were for new line locations.

“Sometimes you find out, hey, this line’s not gonna be, it can’t cross here, or it can’t go through there,” McHenry said. “Could be terrain, could be lots of things that’s unforeseen, so you kind of re-evaluate where it goes and make some amendments to it.”

McHenry said he is unsure what to expect cost-wise for the project. McHenry said the cost for projects like these is volatile right now.
