HVAC Program Will Return To TCAT Livingston In 2026

TCAT Livingston has received approval from the Tennessee Board of Regents to bring back an HVAC program.

TCAT Upper Cumberland President Cliff Wightman said the Livingston campus originally had an HVAC program but it was moved to Jackson County. Wightman said TCAT is not removing the program from the Jackson County campus, but adding the program back to the Livingston campus.

“HVAC is one of the most demanding fields there in,” Wightman said. “I mean, there is such a huge shortage of HVAC technicians. So the more that we can offer it, you know, the best. We’ve already got it at the Crossville campus, we had it at Jackson, so now we are gonna make space in Livingston as well.”

Wightman said the new HVAC program will incorporate more of the commercial side of the industry. Wightman said a timeline for when the program will be up and running remains uncertain at this time.

“There’s a little bit of a process involved, not only with our board, but our accreditation board, and then also, of course, with the Department of Education,” Wightman said. “They just use the Pell Grant, so I’m looking. I would love to see it up and going by January.”

Wightman said the plan is to install the program into the old diesel building once the construction of the new diesel building is complete.
