Cookeville Cavalier football player Austin Hoane wants to continue to build for the future.
Hoane plays left tackle for the Cavaliers. He enters his fourth year on the varsity team. Hoane said a lot goes into becoming a good left tackle.
“You have to play with length,” Hoane said. “You have to be extremely fast, being able to play with length, got to communicate, you have to lead the whole group and it really takes a ton of precision, can’t mess up too much.”
Hoane said he feels like a leader during his time at Cookeville. Hoane is one of 22 seniors on the Cavaliers football team. Hoane said he cannot remember a time where he did not play football.
“I was playing around in the backyard with my older brother,” Hoane said. “My dad played football in college so I’ve always just been football.”
Hoane said this season means everything to him.
“Family moved here coming into sophomore year and we found [Cookeville] as being truly special,” Hoane said. “The coaches aspect, the players aspect, everyone gives full effort no matter what and it’s really kind of shaped me into what I’ve been able to do so far.”
Hoane initially played football in Augusta, Georgia. He moved to Cookeville before his sophomore season. His dad also got a job at Tennessee Tech at the time of the move.
Austin Hoane has committed to play football at the University of Cincinnati next season.
