Monterey Lady Wildcat Basketball Standout Carly Wright has always wanted to make an impact.
Wright enters her senior year for Monterey. Wright said being a supportive teammate is the biggest impact she can make next season. Wright said Head Coach Randall Phillips helped her get through her early struggles.
“Whenever you’re a freshman, you know that you’re not gonna play as much,” Wright said. “But whenever I was a freshman, I basically sat on the bench the whole year so I just learned that I need to improve and then, that’s what he taught me how to do.”
Carly Wright will become the second Wright to graduate from Monterey. Her sister Lindsay graduated from Monterey during Carly’s sophomore year. Wright said she takes inspiration from her sister and what she meant to the team.
“She was a great leader and I would like to be like her,” Wright said.
Wright said she is taking a step back with this being her senior year.
“I don’t think it will [hit] until I actually step foot into school again,” Wright said. “I’m really excited for my senior year.”
Monterey finished last year at 1-24.
