Cumberland County Girls Volleyball Head Coach Rodney Howard has a lot going on this summer.
Howard has started practice with the Lady Jets on Monday. Howard also currently has 18 players playing beach volleyball tournaments. Howard said this time is good for his girls to get experience.
“It’s a different mindset, different culture,” Howard said. “And it’s, you know, you and another girl out on the court and it’s really the mental mindset that I’m trying to teach the girls right now cause I told them, the only thing between us and a state tournament now is just our mindset, is our attitude.”
The Lady Jets practice five days a week starting on Monday. Howard said his team is gaining confidence throughout the summer.
“The experience that we have is going forward and being able to actually get into a system and do the things that we need to do to get those sets in the front row,” Howard said.
Howard said his team will have a lot of chances to improve their conditioning.
“[We do] a bunch of different team activities so we can get, you know, everyone on the same page and get our plays down and everything else,” Howard said.
Howard enterd his third season as Cumberland County Volleyball coach next season. The Lady Jets won 32 games last season and made the sectional round. They won two games in Howard’s first season.
