Cookeville’s new budget features some $30,000 to help replace the lights inside the Leslie Town Centre.
Leslie Town Centre Director Kathryn Molina requested aid from the city council in February to help fund the estimated $70,000 project. Molina said the project will replace an estimated 100 ballast lights with a new LED lighting system.
“So we have decided that we need to really invest in providing our clients with the state-of-the-art experience,” Molina said. “I think that our goal is really to make sure that it sets the mood and tone for each event, and our clients have accessibility to be able to do that.”
The Leslie Town Centre is jointly owned by the city and county. Molina said she was pleased to see the city be a big contributor to the project.
“Any amount was honestly grateful and appreciated to get from them,” Molina said. “So we appreciate our partnership with the city.”
Molina said the contractor will begin replacing the lights starting on Monday.
Molina said she estimates the lights to be replaced by June 24.
