Zhanjiang (John) Liu will serve as the interim provost and vice president of academic affairs at Tennessee Tech.
The move comes as Provost Lori Mann Bruce will leave her position to lead the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Liu has served as vice president for research and professor of biology at Tennessee Tech since 2023. Liu will begin his interim role starting July 1.
The University will undertake a national search for its next provost. A timeline for a permanent successor has not been announced.
