The TBI investigating a Sunday night incident where a Cookeville Police Officer shot and killed a man at a home on North Willow Avenue.
According to the TBI, police attempted to serve a domestic assault warrant on 22-year old Dawson McCracken around 10:30pm Sunday. Officers found McCracken armed with a handgun. Police tried to negotiate, but the situation escalated. McCracken pulled his gun. Cookeville Police officers fired several rounds.
McCracken transported to Cookeville Regional where he was pronounced dead. No police injured in the incident.
The TBI investigating the incident at the request of DA Bryant Dunaway, as is normal protocol in police shootings.
