Interstate Health Acquires Satellite Med Cookeville Location

Healthcare provider Interstate Health announced its acquisition Monday of Cookeville’s Satellite Med.

Interstate Health is a company that looks to address the lack of healthcare options for communities and commercial truck drivers. Interstate Health CEO Jeff Seraphine said Satellite Med’s location made it attractive to acquire.

“It’s a great fit because it is located right on a busy interstate,” Seraphine said. “It’s accessible off the interstate, and it’s in a community that is growing, but also dealing with what communities across the country are, and that is a diminishing number of independent practices in the community and creating a bigger need.”

Seraphine said Interstate Health will expand upon the current services that Satellite Med offered. Seraphine said a major change is that services will now be available for Medicare and Medicaid patients.

“That’s also where our partnership expands with Occupational Health Center that we work with in Cookeville,” Seraphine said. ” We are working with them on a grant project with the state of Tennessee, and they are gonna help with some additional staffing with some people that are able in the near term to help the practice expand to these populations, because it historically hasn’t been serving those Medicare and Medicaid populations.”

Seraphine said Monday was the first day that Interstate Health had boots on the ground at Satellite Med. Seraphine said Interstate Health is excited about the opportunity in Cookeville.

“We are thankful for the group of people that have been there all these years and making a difference, and I look forward to continuing to work with them, to like I said, grow the services there and grow the population that we are serving in a community.”

Seraphine said Satellite Med in Cookeville will rebrand and that the new name will consist of some sort of co-branding.

Seraphine said he wants Satellite Med to be a part of the co-brand as he wants people in the community to know that it is still the same people who have been taking care of them since Satellite Med opened its doors in 2006.
