Sparta will move forward with soliciting bids to replace the roof at the Polk Street Fire Department.
Sparta Fire Chief Kirk Young said the roof has worn down due to age and recent winds. Young said the roof is not leaking but needs to be replaced before the roof further deteriorates.
Sparta Mayor Jerry Lowery said the roof replacement is badly needed.
Sparta Aldermen approved to solicit bids during the aldermen meeting on Thursday.
