Pothole repair coming to Monterey’s Meadow Creek Park and Bee Rock Overlook.
Monterey Mayor Alex Garcia said the number of potholes at Bee Rock is not as bad as compared to Meadow Creek Park. He said the repairs will cost the town an estimated $5,000.
“I was out there today myself, and it almost, you know, jerk you out of the truck,” Garcia said. “It’s just basically rainwater. We’ve had a lot of rain this year, and it’s just washing over the road. It’s something that we have to address, but for right now, we need to put a band-aid on.”
Alderman Jim Whitaker said Meadow Creek Park’s drainage issues are causing yearly repairs. Whitaker said he agrees that the repairs are needed, but a long-term solution is needed.
“Until you fix the drainage, you are gonna have this three or four times a year,” Whitaker said. “It runs over the road, and you’ve got to ditch it and put it under that road.”
Garcia said the town has had conversations about a long-term solution for Meadow Creek Park.
“The best way to do it would be paving it, but we don’t have that kind of money,” Garcia said. “We’ll have to put a ditch in there and maybe a catch space and get the water off from going over the road to under the road.”
Garcia said the repairs at Meadow Creek Park and Bee Rock Overlook are something the town budgets for every year.
