Collins Wins Celina Mayoral Race, 54% Of Vote

Incumbent Luke Collins will return to Celina Town Hall as the town’s mayor, winning 54 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s municipal election.

Michael Boles, Tracy Mills, and Lester Kenny Westmoreland will fill the three seats on the Board of Aldermen.

Boles received 18 percent of the vote Tuesday. Mills finished second with 17.3 percent of the vote. Westmoreland tallied 14 percent of the vote.

Dawn Dale finished fourth with 10.9 percent of the vote. Timmy Boles tallied 10.7 percent of Tuesday’s vote. Patty Spears tallied 10.2 percent of the vote.

Collins received 291 of the 593 votes cast. Former Mayor Willie Kerr finished second with 32 percent of the vote.

Steady turnout Tuesday and no problems reported in Tuesday’s vote.

In early voting, incumbent Luke Collins received 58 percent of the vote to lead in the mayoral election. Willie Kerr is second at 30 percent.

For the three aldermen seats, Micheal Boles exited early voting as the top vote getter with some 18.5 percent of the vote. Tracy Mills stands second with 17 percent. Lester Kenny Westmoreland stands third at 15.2 percent of the vote. The next three candidates are separated by just 21 votes.

Almost 43 percent of the city’s registered voters cast ballots early or 410 registered voters.

The vote must still be certified later this month.
