Celina’s Dale Wants Infrastructure Focus, More Communication

EDITORS NOTE: This is the first in a series of stories introducing the candidates for Alderman in Celina. Residents will vote Tuesday June 3.

Candidate Dawn Dale has called Celina home for 26 years.

Dale is a hairdresser and owns her own shop. Dale said one of the reasons she is running is she feels there is not enough communication coming from the current administration.

“People ask me all the time, ‘what’s going on here?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know, I don’t have a clue,'” Dale said. “And it’s hard to find anything out. And I think we need people in these offices who can tell you exactly what’s going on and you know, look you in the eye and be honest and up front and transparent.”

Dale said she has concerns about the town’s streets, jobs, and the aging sewer and water lines. Dale said she is aware the city plans on taking out a loan to pave the streets but she thinks work on the water and sewer lines underneath the streets needs to come first.

“Common sense tells me that we need to fix the underlying infrastructure first before we put a, you know, a coat of pavement or blacktop or whatever over it,” Dale said. “Because we’re just going to end up tearing it up, so to me, that’s a waste of money and time to do that.”

Celina has three aldermen seats. Dale came in fourth during the last election. Dale said she thinks residents should vote for her because she has a sincere and heartfelt interest in the future of Celina.

“I would do the best job that I possibly can do, and like I said, I’d be willing to talk with anyone and work with anyone with any concerns they have, no judgments here,” Dale said. “And I hope that whoever gets in there, that they will work together and be transparent and honest about what’s going on as far as the infrastructure and where our money’s going, and that’s what I would be willing to do.”
