Gainesboro Aldermen will spend an estimated $5,000 to replace a generator fuel tank at the main lift station.
The city began having issues with the generator’s fuel tank and discovered that the inside of the fuel tank had rusted beyond repair. Wastewater Manager Chad Scott said the town received approval from the state to use an auxiliary tank to serve as the generator’s fuel tank.
“It’s just a secondary tank that sits beside it that holds the diesel and runs a line to the generator,” Scott said. “It should be a lot better. It would be like it was originally.”
Scott said the auxiliary tank is a much cheaper option than trying to get a brand new generator tank. Scott said that though the state does require the main lift station to have a generator, it is in good practice to have one for emergencies.
Scott said the state has required that the auxiliary tank be double-walled to keep spillage from reaching the tank.
