Hwy 127 Clear Creek Bridge Construction On Schedule

The new bridge connecting Cumberland and Fentress Counties over Clear Creek moving along as scheduled.

T-DOT’s Rae Anne Bradley said the estimated completion date still stands August, 2026. Bradley said the bridge is a major part of the Highway 127 widening.

“The contractor has completed approximately 70 percent of the required excavation and the majority of the utility relocation work is complete as well,” Bradley said. “The contractor has also installed approximately 60 percent of the storm drain pipes and structures.”

Bradley said crews have been installing foundations for the new traffic signal poles where State Route 28 and State Route 62 meet. Bradley said motorists need to be on the look out for changes in traffic flow as the project progresses.

“There will likely be a traffic shift to a portion of the new alignment through Clarkrange later this year,” Bradley said. “Which will allow the contractor to perform some necessary work on the existing alignment.”

Bradley said the bridge abutments have been built which allowed for the installation of ten or so bridge girders.

“So, in addition to that, the metal decking has been completed on the bridge and then approximately, I’d say half, of the reinforcing steel has been installed on the bridge deck,” Bradley said. “So, the contractor is expecting the bridge deck to be poured later this summer.”
