The White County School Board will move its future meetings to the central office.
The School Board has been meeting at the system’s schools on a rotation schedule. Chair Bob Young said White County livestreams all of their school board meetings, and moving equipment between locations was inconvenient.
“It was cumbersome for them, and so we thought the pros of having it in central office outweighed the benefits, for us, in the schools and having our rotation there,” Young said.
Young said he meetings also provided extra burden to individual school employees. Young said the School Board will find different ways to be in the buildings.
“It’ll fall on the responsibility of the board members, is to get out and be engaged and show up when there’s opportunity,” Young said. “But also show up when we’re not going to be interfering with the education that’s taking place.”
Young said he hopes keeping the location consistent will provide a higher quality streaming experience.
“We just thought, after consideration of the fact that we’re streaming these videos for the benefit of the public online for live or recorded viewing, that it would be more convenient in to have it in one location,” Young said.
