Jackson County Baseball Changing Districts Next Season

Blue Devils Baseball will see some familiar faces, in a new environment next year, as Jackson County moves to District 1-A next season.

Jackson County’s district opponents next season will include Pickett County, Clay County, Red Boiling Springs, and Clarkrange. Jackson County Head Coach Alex Bray said he believes the team set a tone going into the new district.

“[We’re] hoping we can, you know, come into that district, set a tone, work really hard, and hope those reps that we’ve taken this year, even from the tough losses, we can build off of,” Bray said.

Gordonsville will move up a district next season. Bray said anybody can beat anybody in District 1A.

“Every team’s got, you know, an even playing field to work with,” Bray said. “It’s going to be real competitive for us.”

Jackson County finished 4-22 this season. The Blue Devils were held without a district win. Bray said his younger guys got a ton of experience this year.

“This is just kind of a building and learning experience for a lot of the younger guys,” Bray said. “Trying to find the competitive edge with our guys that’ll be seniors next year and try to build off of that.”

Jackson County started five freshmen on their team this season. They will graduate two players this offseason.
